What to say in your first message
Updated 29 October 2026
Keep it short and clear
A strong first message has three things: a greeting, your general area, and the rough time you have in mind. That's enough to start.
Be respectful from the first word
You're contacting an independent person, not a service line. Courtesy gets a better response. Avoid explicit demands in an opening message.
Use the channel they listed
Contact using the phone, text or email shown on the profile — not another channel you found elsewhere. If they list a preference, follow it.
